What The Update Does
Google Cloud has added two media-generation models to Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform: Nano Banana 2 Lite, now generally available, and Gemini Omni Flash, now in public preview.
The useful angle is not that Google has another image or video model. It is that both updates are positioned around faster creative iteration: cheaper image generation, conversational video editing, and a more controlled way to test visual variations inside an existing workflow.
What Changed
Nano Banana 2 Lite, also called Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite Image, is Google's faster and more cost-efficient image generation and editing model in the Nano Banana family. Google says it can generate images in as little as four seconds and is built for tasks such as rapid design concepts, ad variations, storyboards, ecommerce mockups, and localized visuals.
Gemini Omni Flash is a video-generation and editing model in public preview. Google describes it as a model for conversational video generation and editing, with support for text, image, and video inputs. The promised workflow is more specific than "make me a video": swap a character or product, relight a scene, change style, extend a shot, or edit a clip through natural-language instructions.
Google also says Gemini Omni Flash is priced at $0.10 per second of video output. That matters because many AI video experiments fail not only on quality, but on iteration cost. A model can look impressive in a demo and still be too expensive or slow for daily creative production.
Who Should Test It
The best fit is a team that already makes repeated visual variants: agencies, ecommerce teams, product marketers, social content teams, app builders, and creative operators who need many rounds of image or video options before a final asset is approved.
It is less relevant if your current bottleneck is strategy, scripting, brand approval, legal review, product photography, or distribution. Faster generation does not fix a weak brief or an unclear approval process.
Where It Fits In A Workflow
Nano Banana 2 Lite fits early creative iteration. Use it for rough concepts, quick product-background tests, localized ad mockups, storyboard frames, and rapid image variants where speed matters more than final polish.
Gemini Omni Flash fits a later and more demanding workflow: editing or remixing video assets without rebuilding every shot from scratch. The interesting use case is controlled revision, not generic text-to-video. If it can keep characters, products, audio, and style consistent enough, it could reduce the friction between a first video idea and a usable campaign variant.
When To Skip It
Skip it if you do not have a repeatable media workflow to test. A new model is not a workflow improvement until it beats your current tool on output quality, setup time, review effort, cost, and control.
Also treat Gemini Omni Flash as a watchlist item until public-preview constraints are clear for your use case. Google notes that some support, including audio references, video references, last-frame support, scene extension, and higher resolutions through the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform API, will be available soon. That means some useful production workflows may still be waiting on rollout details.
How To Test It In 20 Minutes
Pick one visual task you already do often. Do not start with a toy prompt.
For Nano Banana 2 Lite, use a real brief such as "make five product-ad background options for this campaign" or "create three localized ecommerce hero-image directions." Measure how many usable options you get in 20 minutes, how much cleanup they need, and whether the fast generation changes the number of ideas you can review.
For Gemini Omni Flash, use one existing short video asset or concept. Test one practical edit: product swap, lighting change, style transfer, scene extension, or a localized version. Pass the test only if the model keeps the asset coherent enough that the next human step is review, not repair.
The decision rule is simple: test it if creative iteration speed is the bottleneck; track it if your work depends on video consistency or API rollout; skip it if your current process already produces enough good variants at acceptable cost.

Start from Google's Agent Studio in Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform when available for your account. For developer testing, use the official Nano Banana 2 Lite and Gemini Omni Flash documentation, the pricing page, and Google's linked Colab notebooks.
This is not a consumer "try it once" recommendation. It is a workflow test for teams that can judge whether faster media generation actually reduces production time.
